HAPPY WORLD FRINGE DAY

It’s World Fringe Day!!!! Possibly one of the best days in the entire year. New Zealand gets to celebrate it FIRST. Out of more than 200 Fringes! How insane is that. The New Zealand Fringe has been part of the family for 27 years. We’re celebrating it today with a Scratch Night created by George Fenn, it’s at 7:30pm at the Fringe Bar. Bring your koha and have a good time.

What is World Fringe day?

World Fringe Day celebrates 70 years since the iconic Edinburgh Fringe Festival was created in 1947. This year more than 200 Fringes around the world are coming together during World Fringe Day on 11 July 2017. More than 200!!!!

What are we doing for World Fringe day?

This year, the amazing George Fenn (official relaxation specialist) has organised a Scratch Night at the Fringe Bar. A bunch of incredible performers are coming together for an awesome night of Fringeyness.

Here is what George has to say about the Scratch Night:

Hi there, friendly neighbourhood NZ Spirit of the Fringe. Tonight we Scratch in honour of the Fringe!

For the unacquainted, a Scratch Night is a platform for new work and emerging artists. They exist in many forms all over the world, some are framed around artists receiving residencies to press the avant garde, others are thrown together in 2 weeks at The Fringe Bar.

Along with artistic risk and development, this Scratch will also celebrate World Fringe Day, because Fringe Festivals have been happening for 70 years and gee that is awhile, lets watch some fresh performance and do karaoke on a Tuesday.

The Facebook event for World Fringe Day Scratch Night is here: https://www.facebook.com/events/834310876726407/

Come along and have a great time!
